What happens

The town lists food trucks, a kids area, a cooking class, a beer garden, live music, vendors and the Police vs. Fire rib-eating contest on Friday night, according to its event page. The 2027 band lineup has not been posted yet. For a feel of the weekend, the 2026 schedule ran like this:

  • Friday: food trucks and the beer garden opened at 5 p.m., music started at 5:30 p.m., and everything closed at 10 p.m. Four barbecue vendors, three craft brewers and two bands.
  • Saturday: food and the beer garden opened at 11 a.m., a DJ played until the bands took over at 2 p.m., music and food ended at 8 p.m. and the last beer call was 9 p.m. Five barbecue vendors, more food and dessert trucks, four brewers and three bands.
  • Kids: crafts, games and activities under the roof at the Town Hall entrance and patio, on Saturday only.
  • VIP experience: sign up through the festival to taste the championship barbecue and hear how the cooking teams make it.
  • Sauce tent: the title sponsor’s sauces are on hand for the plates sold at the festival.

Where the money goes

All profits go to local charities, the Rotary club says. For 2026 the main beneficiary was NeighborUp, which gives neighbors in need basic essentials and skills, and which got the largest share. The festival also recruits volunteers and beer pourers each spring through its website.

Parking and closures

The festival sets up in the Town Hall parking lot, so that lot is closed to all cars from 6:30 p.m. Thursday until 11 p.m. Saturday, the town says. No roads close.

  • The town’s downtown parking map shows walkable lots. The organizer warns that parking near Town Hall and downtown is very limited while the Salem Street lot is under construction.
  • Limited side-street parking is available downtown; watch the signs and respect homes and businesses.
  • Limited accessible parking is in the Town Hall Community Center lot.
  • GoApex buses are free; see the route brochure (PDF).

What to know

  • Town staff may take photos and video of the crowd for town use.
  • The organizer asks visitors to walk downtown and visit the local businesses while they are there.
