When and where
The race is on the first Saturday of March in both 2026 (March 7) and 2027 (March 6). Runners gather at Apex Town Hall, 73 Hunter St., where the town says parking is available on the Town Hall campus. The routes take runners through many of the town’s historic areas, according to the town’s event page. Course maps are under “Courses & Maps” on the race page.
New for 2027, the chamber says the 5K and 10K courses are USATF certified, so times count as certified road race results.
Entry fees
Prices rise as race day gets closer, according to the race page:
| Register by | 5K | 10K |
|---|---|---|
| Oct. 31 | $35 | $45 |
| Dec. 31 | $40 | $50 |
| March 4 | $45 | $55 |

Awards
The top three men and women overall win awards in both the 5K and 10K, as do the top three in each age group: 13 and under, 14-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69 and 70 and older.
Road closures and the bus
The race runs on rolling road and sidewalk closures: streets close as the runners pass and reopen behind them. For the 2026 race the town listed sections of Hunter Street, Old Raleigh Road, the Shepherd Vineyard Greenway, the Apex Peakway at Laura Duncan Road, and Mason, Center, Culvert, Olive, Elm, Briarcliff and East Chatham streets. GoApex Route 1 ran on a major detour that morning; the town posts detours on its transit news page. The town usually updates its Run the Peak page for the new year’s route closer to race day, and we will update this page when it does.
What to know
- Families can make a morning of it: the 2026 event had live music and local business vendors in the Town Hall parking lot, plus a health and fitness fair.
- The kids course has a new route for 2027, which the chamber says is still to come.
- Results and race photos go up on the race page.
