The town’s 2026 calendar does not list a town-run trunk-or-treat. The two nearby candy events we listed, Fuquay-Varina’s Trick-or-Treat Downtown on Oct. 23 and Halloween at the Holly Springs Farmers Market on Oct. 24, are past.

Safety tips from the Apex Fire Department

From the department’s Halloween safety page:

  • Make sure costumes and shoes fit, and props such as swords are flexible.
  • Use face paint instead of a mask that can block vision.
  • Add reflective tape or glow-in-the-dark details so drivers can see you.
  • Children under 13 go with an adult; older children go with friends.
  • Stop at corners, look left, right and left again, and do not cross between parked cars.
  • Take only wrapped candy, and have an adult check treats.

For drivers: slow down in neighborhoods, watch for children in the street and on curbs, and take extra care backing out of driveways.

Halloween and trash day

Halloween is not one of the town’s pickup holidays, so trash and recycling run on the normal schedule. Pumpkins go in the trash cart, or to the Public Works drop-off at 105 Upchurch St. the first week of November. See our trash and recycling guide.

All of October’s Halloween events, from the Tour of Frights to Witches Night Out, are on our Halloween events in Apex page.
