Find your school and enroll
Every home in Wake County is assigned a base school at each level. Look yours up with the district’s Find your Base School tool. New students enroll online through the WCPSS enrollment portal. If you move within the county, the district asks you to report the change of address.
Dates for the 2027-28 school year, from the enrollment page:
- Thursday, Oct. 15, 2026: kindergarten and pre-registration open.
- Oct. 15 to Dec. 11, 2026: applications for early college and Crossroads FLEX High School.
- Oct. 15, 2026, to Jan. 21, 2027: applications for magnet and year-round schools.
- Feb. 18, 2027: application results.
- March 1-12, 2027: transfer applications and the second magnet round.
Proposed assignment changes for 2027-28
The district has a draft 2027-28 enrollment proposal built around the opening of the new Morrisville High School, crowding and bus routes. Families can enter an address to see the proposed assignment. Some students may be able to stay at their current school through a stability transfer, without district transportation. The Board of Education holds a public hearing on the proposal Tuesday, Oct. 20, during its regular meeting; sign up to speak.

The district has six banked days and five remote-instruction days for weather. If it needs more, Oct. 12, Feb. 15 and April 5 are the first make-up days.

North Carolina gives every public school an A to F performance grade and publishes test scores, growth, class sizes and safety data on the state’s School Report Cards site.
